Summer,rodents in Oxfordshire

                                      Wood mice and Bank voles

Every summer  I spend a little time with rodents, at this time of year there numbers are at the highest-breeding faster than losses to predation. As summer turns into Autumn this equation is reversed, and depending on the severity of winter, food supplies they have cached during the better months, numbers can crash alarmingly.
But now in August they are out feeding and storing seeds, hips etc for later on, and the physical numbers of them at this time of year makes photography much easier.
The last couple of years I have been fine tuning the nocturnal look ,and the light used in these images is actually a small day light balanced torch, which gives just enough light to illuminate the subject, but allows the background to remain dark
